2024 BCA National:
The Barbet Club of America will hold it’s 3rd Annual National Specialty Show Friday, December 13th, 2024. It will be held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando Florida, in conjunction with the AKC Championship Dog Show week of events. The National Specialty judge will be sporting breed judge, Alessandra Folz of New Hampshire. The Club will also sponsor a Sweepstakes on Thursday, December 12th with Jerome Elliott judging. In addition, there will be supported entries included on December 11th & 12th. Please plan to join us as we celebrate our fabulous breed.

Alessandra Folz - National Specialty Judge
Alessandra Folz - National Specialty Judge
Ms. Folz is a second-generation dog woman. She breeds Weimaraners (Rissana) and Vizslas (Szikra). Her dogs have won National Specialty Shows, Group Shows and Best in Shows world-wide. She is the owner handler of the top winning Weimaraner of all-time, BIS BISS CH Colsidex Perfect Fit. She has shown dogs to Group Firsts at both Westminster Kennel Club and the American Kennel Club National Championship shows and has finished the Championships of over 400 dogs representing all seven groups.
Alessandra turned her attention to judging seven years ago. She is approved to judge the Sporting Group, breeds in 6 of the 7 groups, and Junior Showmanship. She has judged across the World at all-breed and Specialty shows, including the Vizsla Club of America National Specialty.
Ms. Folz has a deep love of this sport and of the dogs that make up the best part of our lives. Having spent years in the whelping box, she understands the joy and heartache, humility and trueartistry that breeding teaches over a lifetime. It is an honor to be invited to judge your National Specialty Show.

I was born into a dog loving family, and childhood pets included an Irish Setter, and English Springer Spaniel, and several Brittanys. My first AKC Dog was a Brittany for Juniors in 1973. He was exhibited in Juniors, finished his championship, won a Specialty, and soon after that I acquired a bitch which was also finished and bred. She lived out her years as one of my father’s favorite hunting dogs after she retired. I kept a pick male that was finished and was also a hunting dog for my father. Next came college and dogs were put on hold for a while.
In 1982 I began a partnership breeding and showing Brittanys, Afghan Hounds and Salukis. I became a Breeder of Merit in Afghan Hounds, and bred only a few litters of Salukis and Brittanys. Numerous Afghan hounds were finished, including several all champion litters, many of my later Champions earned coursing and field titles and several Dual Champions were finished, a rarity at that time. One Best in Show winner was bred, and numerous Group Winners and Group Placing dogs and bitches were included.
My world changed when I acquired my first English Toy Spaniel in 1986. My first, Ch. Oakridges The Chimes, imported from the UK, became the top Group Placing English Toy Spaniel in history at that time. I am a Breeder of Merit, owned 6 all breed Best in Show Winners, bred 5 of those and imported 1, including numerous specialty wins and 2 National Specialties. I had the first three Blenheim English Toy Spaniels in history to win All Breed Best in Show awards, and also the first two English Toy Spaniels to win All Breed Best in Shows in Canada. My top winning bitch, Ch Cheri- A Lady Isabella Smokey is still the top winning English Toy Spaniel bitch in breed history, her record now 20 years old.
I was given Permit Status for Brittanys, Afghan Hounds, Salukis and English Toy Spaniels as well as All Breed Junior Showmanship in October of 1923. I am a student of Sporting Dogs, Hounds, Toys and Non-Sporting breeds in particular, and have a vast personal reference library where I spend a great deal of my free time.
