Barbet Club of America History
2007: Barbet were approved for the AKC FSS.
2009: March 15: The Barbet Fanciers Club of America, Inc started as a club seeking AKC full recognition of the Barbet. Officers were:
President: Stacy Able, Columbus, IN
Vice President: Tim Grell, Short Hills, NJ
Secretary: Lindsay Franklin, Newton, NH
Treasurer: Joanne Campagna, Buffalo, NY
2009: August 5: The club was incorporated in Delaware.
2011: June 16: The club name was changed to the Barbet Club of America, Inc,.
2011-2016: Participated in numerous AKC Meet the Breeds, Judges Education, and Responsible Dog Days events
2012: Partnered with Club Barbet Canada to enroll the Barbet in CHIC. Health survey added to OFA.
2015: BCA club members voted to request Miscellaneous status for the Barbet
2015: BCA board and club members wrote and approved the standard for the AKC
2017: Barbet were added to MISC
2017: January: Meet the Breeds at Westminster, Barbet Club of America meet the breeds booth won first place
2017: December: Orlando, Florida first open show chaired by Lynn Byfield. The Barbet entry was 12. Judge: Jamie Hubbard. Total FSS/MISC entry was 100.
2017: December: Meet the Breeds in Orlando, Barbet Club of America booth won first place
2018: July: Wisconsin, second open show chaired and stewarded by Judy McMaster Descutner. Judge: Nancy Liebes
2018: December: Third open show In Orlando, Florida chaired by Lynn Byfield, Judge: Dr Gareth Morgan-Jones
2018: December: Meet the Breeds in Orlando
2019: December: AKC/DJJA Advanced Judges Institute breed seminar and hands on workshop presentation at National Championship Show in Orlando.
2019: December: Meet the Breeds in Orlando
2020: June: BCA supported entry at Ann Arbor Kennel Club
2020: January 1, 2020, Barbet were fully accepted in the sporting group in the AKC.
2021: June: Supported entry and Sweepstakes at Ann Arbor Kennel Club
2021: June 13: Barbet inaugural appearance at Westminster with Judge: Mr. David Kitteridge
2021: October: Supported entry and Sweepstakes at Morris and Essex Kennel Club Dog Show. November: 2020 and 2021 supported entries in Fort Wayne, Indiana
2022: Barbet Club of America was Licensed with the AKC
2022: January: Supported entry at Indianapolis Winter Classic. April: Supported entry and Sweepstakes at peach Blossom Cluster. December 1st National in Orlando Florida with Judge Penny DiSiena and Sweeps Judge Vickie Sandhage
2023: September: National in Lexington, Kentucky with Judge Stephanie Hedgepath and Sweeps Judge Erica Cross
2023: December: Barbet Club of America achieved Member status with the AKC
